Book Reviews and Marketing
Even while your book is in the editing stage with the publisher, you should be marketing. You need to create a launch team of friends, other wrtiers, bloggers who review books and have them reading your manuscript ahead of time, so that they are ready to post reviews as soon as the book launches. The best advertising is word of mouth, and they become the musicians blowing your trumpets when the fan fare begins.
Also, look for local venues for articles in your city or neighborhood newpapers or news letter. When marketing you need to think locally, statewide, nationally, and yes, even globally. Think of all the English speaking countries who see Amazon.com. I was totally flabergasted when my publisher told me a publisher in Serbia want to publish Hiding in a Serbian translation. Wow! I won’t even be able to read that copy myself.
